March 6-8th
Outpost 1 is dedicating their trail work challenge to this trail and surrounding area. Riding out at 10am from Old Forge Campground in Horse Creek on March 6th. Working again the 7th and 8th.
From Greeneville take hwy 107e to right onto Horse Creek Park Rd. There is a brown forestry service sign before the turn off. Continue on the road (there will be a sharp right to stay on Horse Creek Park Rd.) until you go into the park. Take the first right onto Old Forge Rd. and travel approximately 3 miles to the campground parking lot.
We will plan on working Little Jennings Creek trail up to Round Knob pavilion and if time allows continue onto Cowbell Hollow. We haven’t been out there for awhile and I suspect the trail will need quite alot of work with chainsaws, a mattox and loppers. There are numerous rocky creek crossings through a beautiful forest. We will have lunch at Round Knob pavilion and decide from there how further to proceed. Little Jennings Creek trail is 2.8 miles long with some climbing but is not overly steep or ledgy. If anyone needs to follow to the location please let Mamie or Donna know and we will be happy to arrange to meet.
